Meet Our Sponsors: Scarlet Fey & ~Jeanette’s Joint~

Scarlet Fey and Amethyst Ytelde, the world builders of Miralume.

Scarlet Fey (sari6t), the creator and owner of Scarlet Fey, and Amethyst Ytelde (Jeanette Doobie), the creator and owner of ~Jeanette’s Joint~ are also the world builders of the Faireland of Miralume.  They speak of the lore continuum between the three Fairelands they’ve built, the new challenges they embraced for Miralume and showcase their new Faire-wares.

How many Fairelands have the two of you built? Where do you get the ideas for them? Is it a long process of testing and replacing ideas, or a moment of inspiration? Are they linked together, exist in the same story continuum?

This is the third Faireland that we have built if you don’t count our re-creation of a destroyed Mithlumen for the Harland Quinn machinima series. Each of our three Fairelands are linked to one another through lore.

The original Mithlumen was the first of our creations for Fantasy Faire and marks the last of the trilogy of Fairelands chronologically. It featured the glory days of the technological revolution of the Mithlumenites.

The second Faireland that we built was Gaalthyr which is also in the middle of the trilogy as it marked the Great Exodus from Miralume to escape the scourge of the continent.

Miralume is the earliest iteration of the trilogy and gives us a look at what life was like for the opulent and carefree ancestors of the land. It also gives us a chance to observe the foresight of the Oracle of the High Elves. As Fairelanders we already know what challenges are about to befall Miralume. How much does the Oracle know? Her prophecies are enshrined in the Archive as well as scattered about the land which can be discovered by participating in the poetry quest in Miralume! A (FREE) vendor is posted at the landing from which visitors can collect a quest HUD and, when completed, a reward!

What are you bringing to the Faire this year?

At Scarlet Fey there are several new outfits that are designed to compliment Miralume.

This year stained glass played a big role in the architecture of Miralume. There are several stained glass full-perm texture sets that have a generous user license included with them for sale at ~Jeanette’s Joint~ (upstairs in the sponsor store).

There are also four stained glass sets featuring the four Elven races of the realm which will be packaged together and put up for auction at the Silent Auction at this year’s Fantasy Faire! Also included in that auction lot will be a special edition “FF” (logo) stained glass set. These items will not be sold outside of that auction so the winner will have the exclusive rights to these texture sets!

What is your favourite thing about Faire?

It is challenging to pick just one or two things that are our favorites about the Faire. We are always very partial to the Fairelands Quest as we love to hop around the regions and search for clues. We also love the auctions, dances, LitFest Tours, and we can’t leave out the amazing SHOPPING! Every part of it is amazing and we love to try to do everything we can within the time we have to do it.

What we feel really hits home the most is the community. So many phenomenal people come together to fight tooth and nail for a spectacular cause! The camaraderie is just extraordinary. Nothing really tops the people of Fantasy Faire and that goes for staff, visitors and all fans alike!

We also have to admit that building for Fantasy Faire is an amazing personal experience. We seem to agree that working with each other is an unmatched experience with so much complimentary talent and artistic vision that the privilege of building for Fantasy Faire is more than simply satisfying. It is inspiring and very exhilarating!

Tell us of your Faireland. What sparked its birth, what is its inspiration? Does it have lore, secrets, stories? Tell us everything!

We love to push the boundaries a little in our builds and our previous Fairelands have done so to a large degree. This time we wanted to create something beautifully Elven and a little more traditional. Miralume came about as the answer to that craving and allowed us the opportunity to bring the origins of our trilogy of realms to life.

We scoured the internet for images of imaginary plazas and fantastic Elven courts to find a decadent (but conscientious) sort of style for the architecture. We decided to build modular designs so that we could do a lot of work with less demanding assets.

Also, we were inspired to add a lot of PBR (Physical-Based Rendering) assets to the build this year to showcase the new shader goodies that are making their way into Second Life. A lot of what we put together is influenced heavily by that texturing style. Not to worry, though; the entire build is backed with classic textures too so the visuals will still be striking for those who have not yet adopted a PBR-capable viewer.

We are excited to have Banshee Heartsong back again to add her literary brilliance to Miralume. She has fleshed out the lore incredibly well and has given the mystique of this Elven society an immense boost.

The views around Miralume are impressive! We encourage visitors to explore every nook and cranny to enjoy all the beauty and elegance that Miralume has to offer.

Thank you,  Scarlet and Amethyst, for taking the time to chat with us. Thank you for bringing us this amazing Faireland!
