The time thieves had been busy this year. That was the only explanation for why it was suddenly Sunday, the last Sunday, the Live Auction day. Surely we just opened?
But there we were, on The Golden Hour, surrounded by friends and family, Fairelanders in spirit and now more and more often, also in name. The pieces of the Fairelands, our shared home, were lovingly offered, bid on, and given to new homes. Saved from the Mists, set in our world, rooted like anchors. Their chains of magic stretch to the future, already searching for the next worlds.
Her High Faireness, Elizabeth Tinsley, talked us through the hours, sharing stories about the Fairelands, stories about the Faire, about herself, about us. Live Auction has really become a family gathering where we chatter, joke, hang out and enjoy each other’s company, enjoy reaching the official end line.
At that end line when all the bits and pieces, whole regions and statues, ships and fish and dragons and broken portals and TAMMY had found new homes, the Relay For Life kiosk showed easily over three million lindens, bringing our total to over 27 million linden dollars!
We’re not done yet, we’re still here, official end lines or not! Faire is open through Tuesday, May 7th, everybody come back right this instant!
No official events, just um, maybe an unofficial one where nothing happens. You know the one. If you never got around to starting the Fairelands Quest, but the treasure hoard in the end keeps calling your name, the Express HUDs are now available in the Fairelands Junction. Fairelander surnames still available, but they need to be redeemed from Linden Lab by May 8th, so don’t hesitate too long!
It’s been a strange year, and a time-theft-filled Faire, but here we are. One Faire richer in memories, one surreal time-shifting shared experience between us, each of us transformed with the Faire-magic that whispers and encourages us to go forward. Be better, be brighter, be a Fairelander.
