The Sanctuary Amazons imparted their tales of Lut that had been passed down from generation to generation. Seems they were active in the realm even in those earlier difficult times, their sisters passing on tales in the tradition of sitting round the fire, ‘story talking’. They spoke of what was seen by their ancestors, the lust, hate, violence and many other sins that had doomed Sodom to be cursed by God. The story had been told of how an angel appeared one day and gave Lut the famous ultimatum to either leave Sodom with his family or perish with the others. Lut declared the importance of his family and the magical community, and how he was loathe to allow them to perish, but explained that he would do Gods bidding, and leave his beloved city. Was he being truthful? It seems the women had kept a small secret all those many years. Lut had been seen in those last days, moving about the city in disguise. What was he hiding? I have a feeling we’ll find out very soon! The Amazons did provide some much needed insight into Luts original goals for Sodom, and how he possibly strayed from those goals. The city was thought to have fallen, but it hadn’t, and Lut had a few good reasons for not letting this happen. In fact, he had many reasons for not letting the city be destroyed by God’s wrath. Reasons that sent him to make a deal with the Djinn. In the end though, we all know that its not wise to anger the big man upstairs.
Judge Maleficent did again cast a spell for truth and honesty to be told on this day, a spell that would take them into the past, for all to see with their own eyes, the Sultan, his citizens, and their wicked ways. The angel Apollyon was visited upon them, making a judgment to take back to God, upon Sanctuary which was then called Sodom. That judgment included debauchery, monsters and magical beings, lawlessness, and basically impenitent sin. Unfortunately, Lut seemed to be much more interested in taxing the brothel whores and finding a cure for penile lesions.
Just outside of the throne room, Stevie, Princess Regent stepped forward and retold the tale of the origins of Sanctuary. Starting first with the history, she spoke of deals made with Djinn and Angels, and a possible double cross on the Great Sultan Lut’s part. The Djinn assumed they’d taken Lut’s humanity from him and put it into the body of a wolf, sent off to live in the wilderness, but alas, that was no wolf, that was a lycan! Much came to light, things that had been kept secret for eons, and now Lut’s humanity will be on trial for dishonesty against both God and the Djinn, neither of which has much sense of humor…

All the times are in Second Life Time.
Beginning on 15 April in NeoVictoria SIM, they will bring their story of love and redemption to the Fairelands on Friday, 24 April, when our intrepid band of roleplayers land in the winter-city of Aurora!
Cursed to bring winter wherever he goes, a despairing fae scientist flees the Sidhe empire for Aurora. But fate and love are not so easily abandoned. The shade of his human wife seeks the help of the NeoVictorians and they bring her to the Fairelands, to find her spouse and end the curse.
Once again, the long battle for control of Sanctuary is over and the tyrant Lut has been imprisoned. Now that the dust has settled, the people demand justice. The perpetrator of all our suffering shall be brought before the people for judgement and the origins of the city of Sanctuary shall be revealed.
Long ago Lut, the Sultan of Sanctuary, made a deal that that tore the realm from God’s judgment. This deal Lut has never had to answer for until now. The dark Sultan will be placed before judgment for this deal he made. Will he be found innocent and justified, or guilty and be destroyed because of it?
Did Lut act in the best interest of the people in order to save their humanity and his own, or did his rebellion against the wishes of God serve his own dark and twisted purpose? The city’s dark secrets shall be shown for all to see and sad tales shall be told, but one thing is for certain, Sanctuary will never be the same again!
Long ago in an ancient Library cared for by an old man named Jack, a mouse climbed atop a mountain of books and sneezed from all the dust. The mouse fell into Jack’s hands safely, but up above something unexpected and wonderful was happening. A book had opened and a world of paper was being created along with a race of paper beings known as the Poppets.
Jack was delighted and surprised by the many magical things he found in this new world, including a small paper train which took passengers between worlds despite travelling only in a circle, people from other stories and lands seemed to visit this strange new world, though some were friendlier than others.
The Poppets were kind but frail just like their world, and Jack did his best to assist and preserve it. He had unexpected allies from Beryl Strifeclaw and Avariel Falcon, the Guardians of Earth and Air in the Fairelands, whom would visit often and brought children to defend this world of imagination and wonder.
But now tears and holes are appearing in the pages of Poppetsborough, which are corrupting the stories with wickedness and drawing others into nothingness. Is the magic failing? Is some force attacking Poppetsborough? Can a way be found to reverse this before Poppetsborough disappears forever? The Rickety Weasels and their allies will do their best to discover the answers to save Poppetsborough from unravelling.
Stevie Basevi, the Dark Regent of Sanctuary RP Community tells us how it was to roleplay within the Fairelands last year and what we can expect of the Sanctuary RP Community this year. Look for them in the Spires of Andolys and join in their roleplay!
Sanctuary RP Community was sponsoring the Faire last year. What made you return and do it again?
We had such a great time last year with our RP, even though we came in a little late. We played, shopped, made some great new friends, and now feel very much a part of the Fantasy Faire family! This past year, I lost a very dear SL friend, Sammie Jestyr, to cancer, and I’d like to dedicate Sanctuary’s participation in the Faire to her.
What was it like roleplaying in the Fairelands? Tell us a bit about the experience.
It was a hoot! But it was also very touching to look around the sims every day, seeing so many people united for a single cause. I was honored to be a part of it. It was also very interesting and fun to be in such an open forum, inviting passers by to be a part of our scenes every day. The whole experience worked out so much better than I ever imagined it would.
What can we expect of Sanctuary RP Community during the Faire this year?
Well, same as last year, the Faire comes at the end of Sanctuary’s anniversary! This year will be the 5th year of Sanctuary in its current incarnation, and we are very proud of that. We will uncover much of Sanctuary’s origins this year along with some very surprising facts that up till now had been kept secret. There will be accusations, betrayals, and even a trial! It should be most interesting.
What’s your roleplay history like? Tabletop, mmorpgs, chatrooms, larp… how does Second Life roleplay compare and differ from these?
Simple answer, lol, SL is the first and only RP game I’ve ever played, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but what a rush it is!
Do you have a favourite Faire memory? What are you looking forward to most this year?
I think my favorite Faire memory is of people I’d never met before coming to RP with us, and really enjoying themselves. We had an incredible time and met some wonderful people. I look forward to much of the same this year.
Thank you, Stevie, for taking the time to talk with us. Thank you to all of Sanctuary for bringing the Fairelands so much more alive!
