There was a lot of gratitude and even more fun at “The Night Fantastic” this past month, as Fantasy Faire Radio said “Thank you” to all the sponsors and supporters who have helped us move from being solely an event station to year-round broadcasting. The Elven Forest was filled with listeners, sponsors, and supporters of all kinds – peaking at sixty residents! The owners of The Elven Forest, Belladaine Nightfire and Dark Moon, opened their realm and have invited FFR to return in the future. Thanks to all of you who joined us.
August will prove a bit more elusive, as people in the northern hemisphere enjoy their summer holidays and vacations. It is a month where we have a lot of things in the works, and there may yet be a few surprises in store. So, stay tuned for *Breaking News!* which could be released later in the month. You just never know. But if you stay tuned to Fantasy Faire Radio, you WILL know!
Two years ago, Fantasy Faire Radio moved from being an annual event radio station running only during the Faire, to year-round broadcasting in cooperation with our media partner, Radio Riel. It has taken a lot more than a will and a playlist to make this shift possible for a volunteer-run station. It’s required DJs, production, sponsors, and most of all listeners.
Fantasy Faire Radio provides music and special programs for listeners in over 100 countries monthly. We invite you to come and celebrate, and let us say, “Thank you” for helping us make this vision a reality.
The Night Fantastic: A Fantasy Faire Radio Celebration
Sunday, July 21st, 2-4 pm slt
at the Elven Forest Ballroom, with music by DJ Elrik Merlin.
Another day in the Fairelands, another excuse for a party! This days found us on the Celestial Plain, where mayhem was the order of the day. We set aside our usual recipe of epic soundtrack, fantasy goodness in favor of some rock and roll.
FLAPSaC (Fantasy Loving Action Penguins Supporting a Cure) is a completely serious organization supporting and sponsoring the Fairelands, in particular the rollerskating party of Xanadu! They hail from Funtarctica and have come to join the Fairelands this year (and to dance their flippers off).
It is probably not a secret that I love to dance and party in Second Life and when it is that time of year, ya know…The Fantasy Faire, I spend a lot of my online time partying on the Fairelands!
Since the opening of the Faire I have been to parties (of course!), a short story discussion in the Hall of Story and the Jail and Bail of Jessica Lyon. All occasions where wonderful and the good news is: you can go to parties and/or events every day – a good time is guaranteed!
In case you are not sure (I can’t imagine, but okay), I’ve taken some photographic and video evidence!
‘When your back’s to the wall
When you’re starting to fall
You got something to lean on
Love is everything’
The end-party of the Fantasy Faire, a gathering of all Fairefolk and party-peeps from allover the grid, did not happen this year.
It was not held on The Rose, and certainly not in the pool. 78+ or more people did not dance and there was no fun. Nope. Nothing. Happened.
