Tabletop Games for 2018

The week after the Faire is always an exhausting, yet fulfilling affair. You look back on the prior weeks and ask yourself one basic question, “Did I accomplish what I set out to do?” You’ve tried to plan a series of events the very best you could; tried to think of your Plan B and Plan C, and you try to make it so possible participants don’t: a) feel intimidated by your offering, and b) have a variety of selections to choose from. You’ve gone back and forth on a variety of decisions, have worked with your superiors to ensure everyone is on the same page, and you’ve waited patiently, anxiously for word to spread around; and for people to sign up and/or take available seats at your event. And of course, you pray to the Linden gods that everything will somehow miraculously hold together…

As an event planner, typically the weekend or so that you have your events consists of a constant rush of adrenaline and mental movement, too much beverage, and exhausted vocal chords (or typing fingers, if applicable). Such was the case when Kitori Skeleton (Kitori Unglugged) and I (Nyza Stillwater) set forth to create the first ever “Fantasy Faire Tabletop Games Series”. If you were kind enough to participate in one or more of the events, no doubt you caught us all fueled up in the emotions I just briefly referred to. But after all was said and done, I’m proud to announce that we consider our series of games brought to the Faire to be a smashing success, and it’s all thanks to every one of you who either participated, observed, or who took the time out of your busy Faire schedule to grace us with such great feedback. Again, from the two of us, a huge “Thank You!”

Here is a brief synopsis of the games on a whole:

  • 18 of the 20 scheduled sessions took place
  • 40 hours of gaming was had
  • We had a total of 22 individual participants
  • The average participant attended 3 sessions
  • Number of times adventurers failed a campaign: 0
  • Number of times the Unweaver got his butt kicked: 1 out of 1
  • Number of bears and deer who completed their heist: 6 each
  • Busiest and Longest Day: April 29, with 12 straight hours of gaming
  • Number of Game Masters exhausted: 2
  • Amount of money put in the adjacent Kiosk: ~25,000 Lindens
  • Amount of money put into sponsoring tabletop merchandise RFL vendors: ~15,000 Lindens
  • 10/10 – Would Game at the Faire Again!

We have a detailed summary of each game session for your reading enjoyment. We hope you will recall these fond and fun experiences for many days, weeks, and years to come. Pending any unforeseen circumstances, we are happy to announce, pending the announcement of Fantasy Faire 2019, that we will be back next year!

If you’d like to keep up with us and continue playing with us long after the end of Fantasy Faire, please drop an IM to Kitori Unplugged, and ask for an invitation to our Tabletop Group.

Also we’d like to take one final opportunity to thank our sponsors: Remnant Ashbourne of /studioDire/ for providing the tabletop equipment, Avariel Falcon for providing the Enchanted Number Stones, Loki Eliot, for designating the space in The Bazaar Dungeon, and Secrets of Gaia for sponsoring the sim. A huge thanks to Sonya Marmurek for putting all our stuff on the website so quickly and providing moral support. Special thanks to Caledonia Skytower and Saffia Widdershins for accommodating some of our sessions at the “Halls of Story”. A special shout-out and thanks also must go out to Elizabeth Tinsley, and Zander Greene for allowing us to have these games this year. Without all this support from all of these people, the games simply would not have been possible.
