This year Fantasy Faire will once again be offering Roleplay Classes for those who aren’t familiar with or don’t feel quite comfortable with roleplay, or who wish to develop their roleplay further. Come, listen in, and hopefully next time you are offered an opportunity to RP, you will be able to jump right in!
Friday, April 23th at 4pm slt:
How to enter a roleplay scene
Taught by Angela Chauvert
One of the most important things to know about Roleplay is… how to start. How do you start a conversation with a stranger? How do you walk up to 2 or 3 people and enter the conversation?
Saturday, April 24th at 8am slt:
Role playing small actions and chaos as an urchin
Taught by Tepic Harlequin of The Children of Stories
Tepic leads a class looking at how minor character interactions can bring flavour and depth to role playing, and be the pivot point which moves the main story forward and encourages involvement, using experience from past role plays in New Babbage and some impromptu role play practice!
Sunday, April 25th at 7am slt:
CLASS RP: Think before you act
Taught by Aggie Merit of the Children of Stories
At times, Second Life roleplay can be fast paced, chaotic and surprising, with little time to consider how best to respond. This class will examine simple principles and practices that we can each keep in mind to make sure that we aren’t stepping on other players’ toes or breaking immersion.
Monday, April 26th at 12pm slt:
Taught by Colton Dreschler
Colton discusses and demonstrates the principles of building weaponry.
Tuesday, April 27th at 7pm slt:
Roleplaying for Fantasy Faire/Charity
Taught by Strifeclaw, Guardian of the Earth Stone
Strifeclaw looks at techniques for planning roleplay within Fairelands with the intent to raise money for RFL.
Wednesday, April 28th at 7am slt:
Let Your Character Lead You
Taught by Connor Bagshawe of the Children of Stories
At times, Second Life roleplay can be fast paced, chaotic and surprising, with little time to consider how best to respond. This class will explore how to stay immersed and true to your character when events take unexpected turns; to foster an intuitive feeling for your character’s reactions; to support the storytelling of others, and to keep both the role, and the play, in roleplaying.
(While there will be focus on improvisational, live action, real-time roleplaying without the moderation of a DM or GM, many principles will apply to other forms of RP.)
Friday, April 30th at 11am slt:
A mythological history of faeries and other creatures
Taught by ColeMarie Soleil
Drawing on history, mythology, fiction books, and films, ColeMarie will give a class on the mythological history of faeries and other creatures.
Please note – this class is at Wandering Woods
Saturday, May 1st at 9am slt:
Roleplay fighting: RP Combat At its Best and Worst
Taught by The Faire’s Own Elayne Diavolo
This class will look at how to fight using words!
