LitFest Tour: The Story Well

The Faire is brimming with stories: breathtaking builds and fantastical creations designed to touch your heart and soul.  What stories do they inspire in you? We invite you to put your Fantasy Faire experience into words.

The Story Well (Haveit Neox & Lilia Artis)

Horseshoe shaped island which rises from the ocean like a hill. Covered by bright houses and a castle at the summit with the look of a naive painting with primary colors. In the proximity of the castle is a well which is also the entry to the world below the sea, a realm of fantasy creatures.

In the far corner of the sim is the performance stage made out of rafts, nearly flush with the ocean.  The audience seats are on sheets of paper that appear to be floating between the stage and the cave entrance at the base of the hill island. The hillside not facing the stage will have a harbor with the fantasy art galleries.

Seeds of Story

These are suggestions. Be inspired by this land and write what you desire.

On arrival … how did you get here? … you see drawings circling in the air … or are you under water? This place is oddly disorienting and when the scribble birds begin to fly by, you are no longer sure how many dimensions there are in this world. Two? Three? Or some unknown number? What kind of place is this, anyway?

This artist-boy is definitely under water and yet he himself seems unaware of this. Intent on his drawing, he looks like a drawing himself. Is he real? What does “real” mean in this place?

When you first come upon these figures, they seem like warriors brandishing spears. But who do they fight? Perhaps instead it is a parade or procession. What do they celebrate?

You follow a path that carries you over the water. This path is made of drawings. The images look like simple cartoons, drawings a child might make, and yet they affect you more strongly than that. What do you feel as you move across this path of images?

You have reached a city filled with inhabitants. And yet … this city is unlike anything you have encountered. The forms are simple, cartoon-like, as if a child had made them. Wait a moment … are the seeds of story found in childhood? If you look back to your own experiences as a child, what stories are there?

There will be a Special Escorted Tour of the Story Well, guided by its creators, Haveit Neox and Lilia Artis at 10am SLT on Monday 23rd April. Hearing these talented artists tell the story that lies behind their creation is a treat not to be missed!
