LitFest Tour Friday May 1st 2020: Heliodor

The Company of Faire Folk rides out! Or walks, flies or (consults notes) swims as is your preference. Our Tour today takes us to the lovely land of the elves, Heliodor.

The elves of Heliodor are devoted to the ideals of creation and growth. To them, the highest calling is to create things of beauty and utility for their community to use and enjoy. The city itself is the work of many architects and artisans, built from pale golden stone in graceful arches and flowing curves, blending on the edges into orchard that in turn blends into forest.

Things to See:

Seen at sunset, the stark buildings acquire a golden glow. This is the land of gardens; wheatfields and vineyards lie within and most buildings have their own garden area. The Tree of Life spirals up the main building.

Hidden Secrets:

A small scythe lies abandoned on a low wall. Surely more than one person works such a large field, or does each take according to need?

Who tends the vineyard?

Behind the main building is a small sanctuary, dedicated “To the warriors who fought without giving up. May your light never fade.”

Things to Ponder:

Some gardens hold vegetables, some fruit or vines, and one has an apple press with barrels for the cider. What do their choices tell about their owners?
