The Fairelands welcome bloggers to share, capture and report their magic. The days that the portals stay open are surprisingly short and we want to make certain that the word spreads as far and wide as possible, so every possible guest knows when to visit and what they can expect to see.
Faire blogging should stem from the same source the Fairelands do: inspiration and imagination. There are no obligatory assignments. Instead there are challenges. We do not want to force anyone to do anything, we want to inspire, dare, encourage: challenge.
We are looking for bloggers that genuinely love the Faire and cherish the fleeting time the Fairelands visit our realm. Since the application is mostly about getting into the early access, we are focusing on bloggers who take pictures in the regions, or of the regions. Studio-work is not dependent on if the regions are laggy or not, after all. We are also searching for bloggers with strong ties to RFL, who are passionate about the Relay and willing to write about it. I am also always, always looking for and favoring good writers and storytellers.
Please note that since there are no required amount of posts, or required amount of review copies used, also the merchants do not have any obligation to give review copies. There are always over 200 merchants in the Faire, you will have plenty of review copies, regardless whether all of them offer them or not. Fantasy Faire is a charity event, benefiting Relay For Life, and many merchants might rather have even bloggers buy their donated wares than give them for free, since that money goes to Relay For Life.
Also note that since this is a Relay For Life event, the content you produce needs to be PG. This is always a requirement for all the RFL events.
As said, there is no quantity requirement, no numbers on how many posts you should make. There is, however, a QUALITY requirement. You can make even just one post, if you make it with love, care, dedication and inspiration. Using a couple of review copy items in a quick urban look-of-the-day is not a desired form of Faire-blogging. Going into the Fairelands as a fantasy character of your choice, exploring, taking pictures within the regions and making a post about that is. I much rather see a post about you dressed in your finest fantasy fripperies dancing on the deck of the FaireChylde than a series of quick review copy posts that have nothing to do with fantasy.
If this leaves you confused about how you should blog the event, please read the various Fantasy Faire Blogger Challenges. Doing several of those well is pretty much an ideal way to blog the Faire.
There’s also two additional parts in the application. One is about the chance to write for Fantasy Faire’s official website. The second is about helping with the Faire in other ways. This has no influence on the actual blogger application and should be filled only if you are truly interested. There’s very limited spots for this.
