A Letter from Kristie McComb at the American Cancer Society

My dear Fairelanders and friends,

With the closing of another Fantasy Faire, I write to you with heartfelt gratitude and esteem for all that you created, shared, and gave of yourselves these past two weeks. As the American Cancer Society, we stand amazed that you not only met last year’s total, you exceeded it, especially in the tough economic times we’re experiencing.

We feel so fortunate to have you-individually and collectively-as our hand-in-hand partners in this quest to end cancer around the world. We absolutely cannot achieve our goals without global collaborations like the one we have with the Fantasy Faire community, a collaboration that had grown steadily over the last few years and one that we’re so proud to recognize, celebrate, and learn from!

Because of the ~$100,000 (and climbing!) you raised this year, we are going to be able to offer “light the way” seed grants for our BEACON pilot organizations once the pilot period of the initiative is complete. This has been something we have wanted to do but we depend on raising resources to extend our reach. Thanks to you, all pilot organizations will have the opportunity to apply for starter funds to implement the patient navigation program they design during this upcoming year using our Toolkit and virtual platform. We still have a lot more to raise but your funds will enable us to get this plan off the ground and make our vision a reality.

Your generosity continues to amaze and inspire us. You make us all want to do the best job possible to be worthy of your tireless efforts, beautiful creations, and tangible donations that ensure that everyone everywhere has a fair and just opportunity to live a longer, healthier life free from cancer.

With our utmost appreciation,

Kristie and team ACS Global
