Deccan Arida, the creator and owner of The Forge, sponsors the Faireland of Lamented Fens. He talks of how he began creating in Second Life, shows some of his Faire wares and reveals his favorite Faire memory.
This is your first year sponsoring Fantasy Faire. What made you decide to become a sponsor? How many years have you been a Faire merchant?
I have had numerous Featured stall spots before over the last 5-6 years, but I feel I have enough of a broad enough catalogue of Fantasy releases to really want to show them off this time around.
How did you begin building in Second Life? What inspires you to create?
I started building for my own personal entertainment with prims when I first came to SL back in 07, crafting fantasy gear for my avatar. Everything inspires me, from film, art, games and other creators. Usually blending it with my own creative inspirations.
What are you bringing to the Faire this year?
What calls you to fantasy? When was the first time you encountered the genre and realized you enjoyed it?
I’ve enjoyed fantasy since I can remember, it’s one of my favorite genres in anything. I used to draw fantasy creations as a kid, and still do sometimes. It’s reflected in a lot of my real world influences like flms and games too, I enjoy anything fantasy related.
Do you have a favourite Faire memory? What are you looking forward to most this year?
Not one specific memory, just the first round that I joined and all the unexpected love and admiration my wares got, I definitely wasn’t expecting it and definitely helped motivate me to build more like that to this day.
Thank you, Deccan, for taking the time to chat with us. Thank you for returning to the Faire again and sponsoring the return of the Fairelands!
