Welcome to December! Before you know it, it will be time for another Fantasy Faire. It won’t be too long before Fantasy Faire Radio (FFR) will be switching its focus to preparing for those weeks in late Spring that unite us in a common purpose.
There are still a couple of months, and FFR still has a few off-season tricks up its collective sleeves. This month we’ll be visiting The Dickens Project in SL, a winter holiday tradition produced by FFR sponsor, Seanchai Library.
“Dickens? Fantasy?,” you say. “Bah, Humbug!,” we say. A Christmas Carol has much that is fantastical: supernatural phenomena, time travel, magical flight, ghosts! Dickens could have hardly made it more of a fantasy if he’d thrown in a pack of caroling lycans decked out in garlands of mistletoe.
“I have endeavoured in this Ghostly little book to raise the Ghost of an Idea which shall not put my readers out of humour with themselves, with each other, with the season, or with me. May it haunt their house pleasantly, and no one wish to lay it.”
~ from the Preface to A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens
FFR has two events from The Dickens Project this month:
** Fantasy Faire Radio, Live from The Dickens Project. Join Elrik Merlin for two hours of festive rock and roll in Dickens Square – the central hub of the The Dickens Project region. Rik will share information about Seanchai Library’s current featured charity, Reach Out and Read, as well as tidbits about the Project itself, which is open all month with over 60 hours of events and performances.
Fantasy Faire Radio, Live from The Dickens Project
Live from Dickens Square
Sunday, December 15th from 2-4pm slt
** The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde returns for an encore.
We won’t be foiled by a queasy grid! Though the live broadcast in October was enjoyed by a good-sized audience, there were an equal number who were bothered and befuddled by the grid failures in progress that day. We know that there are those who missed it that wanted to hear it, and more specifically who wanted to be there in Second Life, live.
Seanchai Library has agreed to host an encore performance at The Dickens Project. So please join us and cheer for Gabriel John Utterson as he pursues the mysteries plaguing his friend Dr Henry Jekyll, and be prepared to snarl back at Edward Hyde in equal measure.
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde on Fantasy Faire Radio
Live from The Dickens Project Opera House
Sunday, December 29th from 2-3:30pm slt
You can join for both of these events in Second Life, or plan on tuning in and listening on your internet browser.
Fantasy Faire Radio would like to thank its station sponsors this month: Seanchai Library, Secrets of Gaia, Team Shadow, and The Lost Unicorn Gallery. You can learn more about sponsorships on Fantasy Faire Radio at https://fantasyfairesl.wordpress.com/fantasy-faire-radio-sponsorship/.
